The Inferno-universe incarnation of Midnight Prower, abbreviated, out of context, to Inferno Midnight (獣のマヨナカ Kemono no Mayonaka; lit. Beast Midnight), not to be confused with his more prominent Neptune-universe counterpart, is a minor character of the Inferno Universe. He is Megan's biological father, Franklin's adoptive father, and Jade's husband.
By way of a series of interdimensional events prior to his birth, he is technically the nephew of his Neptune-universe counterpart, although this is never addressed within the series.
As a youth, he was orphaned and kidnapped by the forces that occupy the Life Temple, resulting in him spending most of his childhood in captivity, as a test-subject. Consequently, he remains illiterate and innumerate for the most part of his life thereafter, although Jade attempts to educate him after he is rescued.
Midnight has the most other-universe counterparts of all the characters in the series, with no less than 7, to date. In order of appearance: "Neptune Midnight", Nega-Midnight (who had two incarnations), Sir Safir, Corsair, Middy Prower, and Madeleine Prower.
Role in Adventures[]
By the time he is introduced to the series, he has received artificial psychokinetic powers from experiments going on within the Life Temple, and is seeking to escape captivity, which he achieves, with Jade's assistance. He then accompanies her on her quest to rescue Leonel, then departs to live on Angel Island with his brother.
Role in ATEE[]
It is revealed that, in the intervening time between The Jaded Journey and After The Element Emeralds, Jade chose to marry him, and the two of them have a daughter, in the form of Megan. Jade's efforts to domesticate him are shown to be largely fruitful, although he still behaves like a wild animal in many ways, including his style of parenting, causing some distance to grow between him and his daughter.
In Spirit of Nature, Team Gemini discover that the tests he was subjected to as a child resulted in him being one of the first of the Newman race, which is what granted him his psychokinesis. They also learn that, despite the advent of artificial immortality in the Inferno Universe, he remains one of the last people to permanently die; at some point in the hundred years that follow After The Element Emeralds, he refuses to be cloned and have his memories recorded, and is subsequently cremated. His ashes are converted into an hourglass pendant, which Jade keeps as a memento of him.
